The human mind begins mapping its world very early, perhaps from within the womb. At the same time, the human spirit is programmed to connect with its parents, to seek love and affection from the people who brought them into the world. That is when we are taught how to love ourselves and how to care for ourselves. We seek comfort from the ones we are surrounded by as small children. If we don’t get that love and affection, or if we get it in a way that is wrong or dysfunctional and if we don’t get that comfort from the people who are supposed to love and care for us as small children then our brains get programmed “wrong” or dysfunctional.
If we didn’t learn how to love and care for ourselves as small children, then we have to learn it now. We have to learn to love and care for ourselves, the way a loving parent ought to have taught us. The way the people who brought us into the world should have. We have to deprogram our brains of the dysfunctional way of not loving and caring for ourselves that we learned by assimilating the behavior around us and reprogram our brains so that we can love and care for ourselves and seek comfort from our inner self and higher power. This is no easy task, and should not be taken on lightly, but it is doable!
